Oli in Wonderland

Hey Guys !

I know, it's been a long time not hearing from me. I’m just too lazy to write, sorry ^_^ and I know every time I say the same thing haha, it's life!

But I have good news : I got my fucking driver’s licenceeeeee. I'm so relieved!!! But now I'm kinda scared to drive alone, even if I like it, Paris is a crazy city, and people are so stressful, I have to be more confident I guess. I’m not totally independent, because I have a problem with my car, I had an electrical neck inside, to help me put in my wheelchair, but now it’s broken, apparently the auto mechanic didn’t set up it correctly (fuck him lol), but what can I say … It happens ^^ It’s just a bit long, It’s still broken because we’re waiting for one part of the deck from Sweden … Anyway, I’m just lookin’ forward to getting my car fixed ^^ 

What could I tell you since the last time I wrote here …

I went one week to London with my parents last August, and it’s AWESOME. There are so
many places and monuments to visit, it's really cool and interesting, I think it's like a mini NYC, but obviously not totally the same. I visited six museums, it was pretty interesting, and I also went to Madame Tussauds (but it wasn't so cool, it was too crowded, much more than the one I visited in NYC). I also visited Buckingham Palace, the parliament, the Westminster Abbey, the old house of princess Diana, St Paul's cathedral, Hyde Park ... we also went shopping (there is an Abercrombie store there, I was in 7th heaven!!).

I think I will go back to London next year, first because I really do love that city, and also because Audrey is going to do an internship there, so I could visit her, and I ‘m also craving to see my sweet friend David, whom I haven’t seen for 10 years, and who lives there.

So now I have no more pressure since I got my driver’s licence, I’m just chillin’ and hanging out with super cool friends. For those who do know Magda (from Mexico), she’s lived in France for one year, and she already came twice to visit me in Paris, It was super cool! We visited the gardens of Versailles, went shopping, walked around in Paris … We also went to Disneyland Park, and we had a blast! It was magical, and the cool thing is we went to many attractions, but we didn’t have to wait in the line, because I’m in a wheelchair so my friends and I were priority. I got the annual passport so I can go there whenever I want for one year ^_^ So if there is any volunteer to have fun there, let’s go !

I also went to Manga-Expo two weeks ago, a comic-con that was 15 minutes away walking from my home so obviously I had to go, but especially to meet Super Chacha and Super Moog (who is super pregnant and who rocks!). Chacha & I wore a gothic Lolita costume, and it was pretty fun! I miss cosplaying (or costume playing, I don't know what's correct, whatever …)

I also wanted to see my friends from university (hello girls!) before getting my surgery, so we hung out few times, and actually today we had lunch at an American diner (Breakfast in America), it was yummy! I missed pancakes ! 

Ok now, let’s talk about serious things, of course I’m talking about Harry Potter’s last book! On the one hand, I’m so freaking happy to know the end of that story, but on the other hand, I’m so frustrated because it’s over, and I loved all the books so much! I’m not going to tell any spoiler here, don’t worry, I just want to say I love this 7th and last book, and I’m not disappointed at all by the end. I was surprised by few characters' behaviour, but I actually loved that, and we got all the answers we needed!! J.K. Rowling rocks!

Let’s talk about a completely different topic, my health, and bad news : I think you all know I have a disease (The Charcot Marie Tooth disease) that affects my muscles and my nerves. For two years now, I’ve had a problem with my left foot. It's quite hard to explain that in English, but I’m going to try : Actually my foot is not straight like normal foot, mine is turning. My orthopaedic specialist told me that I need a surgery, but it's a big surgery, with some infection risks (because I've already had too many surgeries on this foot), and I'll have a cast for 2 months. I’m quite sceptical, because I've already had the same surgery in 2003, on both of my feet, but it failed for the left foot. My surgeon wasn’t so great … fortunately it's not the same surgeon who is going to operate me this time, the new surgeon is supposed to be much better, he’s already operated on a few people with the same disease, so I’m crossing my fingers ^^ .

Actually, first, the new surgeon thought he couldn’t operate, because the more you have surgeries on a limb, the more it’s dangerous to operate on the same limb again, because there are more risks of infection and failure. Then he said if I don't get the surgery, my ankle is going to break, and I could lose my foot.

So of course I accepted the surgery, I'm not scared, because I'm used to it, but the thing that's pissing me off is  that I have to wait the beginning of 2008 to look for a job. Because when I'll have the cast, I won't move so much, I'm not strong enough to use crutches. The problem is I was supposed to be operated on the 11th of October, then I learned later that fucking surgery has been pushed back to November 15th ... Apparently, I had no choice and my doctor didn’t ask me before doing that. And as planned, I have to stay 2 months in a cast, which means spending Xmas and the new year in the cast, without hanging out, seeing all the decorations, buying gifts for the family. And I loveeeeee Xmas, so it s gonna be a bad a period for me. But if I’m still surrounded by my wonderful friends, it should be ok, Laughter is the best medicine!

I’m going to stay at least one week at the hospital from the 14th, so of course I won’t be able to go online, so if you want to reach me, you can call me or message me on my cell phone. For those who don’t have it, I will put it on my MSN Login. Of course you can also send me an email, but I’ll read it only when I’ll be back home, and I won’t be able to respond quickly.
Actually, it may seem desperate, but hope you’ll be there for me, I’ll need some distractions, to forget even a short moment I’m in the hospital I hate so much (I’ve already had 5 surgeries in that hospital, and I had the most horrible moments there in my whole life, but that’s another story).

Anyway, I’m sure it’s gonna be fine, but it’s still cool to be surrounded by good friends!

Ok, that post will be quite long, but don’t freak out, there are many pictures ^^

Let’s talk about what I was waiting for : Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix XD



Damn !! What a disappointment !! Apparently, everybody loves that movie, I think I’m the only one who didn’t like it lol, but that’s not big deal, I assume! I think reading the book only few weeks ago didn’t help me appreciate the movie ^^ Besides, I watched the french version (and I don’t like the dubbing), because my mom went with me, and she doesn’t like reading subtitles (she’s lazy lol). In according to me, something about the story was wrong : The facts weren’t well related. And many important facts from the book miss in that movie :
- Ron & Hermione are not prefect
- Ron isn’t in the Gryffindor’s Quidditch Team
- Harry is supposed to have the teenage attitude, he’s really a pain the neck in the book, he’s mad at everybody, but he’s not so much like that in the movie.
- There is nothing about the magic hospital
- Dumbledore didn’t explain that the prophecy was about a little boy, born in July, and that could have been Neville, and that’s why Voldemort killed Harry’s mother, and tried to kill Harry.
- We saw Draco Malfoy only 5 minutes.
- Almost all the story about Cho Chang is missing, she’s more useless than in the book, and her friend who denounced Dumbledore’s Army doesn’t exist.
- Dobby is once again missing (but I know it’s not an important detail, I just love that character lol)
- We don’t know that Percy Weasley doesn’t keep in touch anymore with his family because he thinks Harry & Dumbledore are liars
- In the movie, they don’t talk about the centaur (whom we saw in the 1st movie) who was supposed to substitute Trelawney.
Anyway, I know the movie cannot be a copy of the book, but some too important facts miss (specially about the prophecy, the magic hospital, Neville, and Harry’s attitude). Few important facts also miss in the 4th movie, but I love it, but in the 5th movie, it’s too obvious (That’s only my opinion). I expected too much from that movie, I’ll be more careful in watching the 6th one ^^

I was so motivated I wore Gryffindor student’s outfits. I bought the tie and the scarf on Ebay lol XD



















I also watched the following movies:
- Ocean’s Thirteen : As good as the two first movies ^^ It’s always cheerful to see so many handsome men on big screen ^^. Bad point : Julia Roberts character is missing and we don’t know why.



- Je déteste les enfants des autres. A french movie, too long and kinda bad .I thought it’d be funny, but it was not, and it’s too messy. Chacha slept during all the movie ^^



- Delirious : A girly movie, it was nice. It’s funny but the story wasn’t so believable ^^



Actually, I have a season ticket for the movie theater. I have to pay 18 euros (around $24) per month, and I can watch all the movies I want. So I try to go to the movies as often as I can.

I’m officially 24 since the 28th of June ^^. I wasn’t really in the mood for celebrating my birthday (bad year, it’s really boring to do nothing), so I didn’t do anything special. I only had a drink with Elsa, Perrine & Marie (good friends from Junior High School and High School) because they insisted on celebrating it, it was really nice from them, so thank you girls! I was surprised because usually I celebrate my birthday, so my friends wish me a happy birthday during the party, and that year all my good friends I used to invite didn’t forget me and called me to wish me it. Thank you everybody! The day after I went to Perrine’s house because she and Elsa celebrated their birthday (they’ll be 25 in August). And some other classmates from High school were invited, it was weird but cool to see them again. They haven’t changed.

OMG, next year, It’ll my turn, I’ll be a quarter of a century …

Last week, I hosted Claire (my best childhood friend), and her son, Léo, who is 4 (he’s so cute). I haven’t seen them for 2 years, so I was really excited ! Now Claire is living with her boyfriend and her son in La Réunion, a French island, located next Madagascar. Normally I’m going to visit them next January! I’m such lookin’ forward to seeing them again!! It’s gonna be awesome XD.
So they stayed in my apartment one week, and we tried to hang out a lot (in spite this fucking chilly weather…). We went to the Grévin Museum (Wax museum in Paris, like Madame Tussauds), and to La fête des Loges (It’s a fair), Léo loved it, and he got a cool Spiderman ^^. We also said Hello to the Eiffel Tower, and we took a bateau-mouche (it’s a boat on La Scène that passes in front of many monuments in Paris). We also went to our old house in Maisons-Laffitte, I lived there until I was 7, it’s in 30 minutes from my current apartment. Claire was my neighbour, her mom was my nanny, so I’ve known her since my birth.
Anyway, it was so cool to see how our old house looks like now :) It’s changed! I’m so nostalgic, I had such great times there …

Since Claire & Léo left, my home is pretty empty. I really do miss them !!

I was pretty tired (Léo is cute, but he’s so young that it’s quite tiring to watch him lol), so I didn’t go to Japan Expo (a comic-con), furthermore it was too far from my home. But I got a detailed summary by Chacha, who stayed in my home from last Sunday evening to Tuesday morning :) I already miss her, but fortunately we will see each other again in one week because we’re going to celebrate Gaelle’s birthday. Anyway, we went shopping (sales 4ever), Chacha bought a gorgeous Harajuku Lovers watch (I’m green with envy), and I bought a Hello Kitty bento (meal box), Cry Baby DVD, A Walk to Remember DVD, and Beverly Hills 90210 the complete first season :) With Chacha we watched the pilot, damn, I used to watch that serie dubbed in French, but the original version is so much better!!







Then we hung out with Dinah, Floria & Julie, we went to Junku (a Japanese library) and I couldn’t resist, I bought the Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Art Book (The illustrations are really beautiful).



Then, we had a drink with Moogle. I haven’t seen her since the wedding of Chacha & Pam, so it was really nice to see her again!

Ok, before leaving, I want to launch a survey XD I’m thinking about getting a tattoo on my shoulder blade, If I decide to do it, I would like a small black tattoo (like the butterflies I have on my right hip). I would like a little fairy ^_^ (so surprising isn’t it?? ), I have already found few models on Internet, so feel free to tell me what your favorite is, or if you have other cute models, don’t hesitate to share them with me XD

I finally decided to open that blog !I’ve already had a blog in french, but I think it’s a good think to make one in english for my english speaker friends, and it would help me keep practicing my English ^^

As some of you know, the beginning of that year was quite harsh for me. When I got back from NYC last June, I had several aims : Getting as soon as I can my driving licence, then finding a good job in marketing. I absolutely need to get my driving licence to be independent, because public transportation in Paris suck, there is no special access for wheelchair, so I cannot move alone. It’s really pissing me off because it’s very frustrating to depend on someone so I’m lookin’ forward to passing that fucking test!

I got the theory part last November, then I started to take some driving courses (around 25 hours). But we noticed the driving school’s car hasn’t had good enough equipments for my handicap, it meant I had no chance to get my driving licence with that car. The only solution was to buy my own car, to put the best suitable equipments to my handicap, and to start again the driving courses and to take the driving licence with it. You need to know I can’t use pedals with my feet, so I speed up and slow down only by using my hands. So after few months with management troubles and disagreements with the driving school’s director, I finally got my car last week! I’m in 7th heaven :) So now I’m driving intensively to get ready! Even if it’s easier to drive with my super car (it looks like the car in the old serie “Knight Rider“, it won’t be a piece of cake, because there are more and more some many car accidents than it’s definitely more difficult to get a driving licence now. So please cross your fingers (and your toes XD) for me ^^ Hope I’m gonna get it soon!

Anyway, this afternoon I went to La Défense with Jaouhara (a good friend from University), and we went to the movies to see Shrek the third, it’s as funny as the two first movies! I definitely love the Donkey, he’s hilarious, and his kids are so cute!!
Before getting home, we enjoyed a drink and a donut at Starbucks, I miss so much chocolate frosted donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts … Yummy!!







La Défense is an important business center and also a big mall, it’s in 15 minutes from my apartment by walk. Buildings are very tall and that place is really modern, in compare to the traditional architecture of Paris, but I definitely love that place (and also Paris)!!







Before ending up that first post, I’d like to talk about my awesome day with my friend Chacha! I really have a blast when we hang out together, we have the same spirit and the same tastes. Unfortunately she doesn’t live in Paris (she is from Lyon). She is really a good friend of mine!! And congratulations to her, she got married one month ago :D
Anyway, last Sunday we watched Death Proof in movie theater, the Tarantino’s last movie, and it was pretty cool! That girly movie is gorgeous! It’s dedicated to the old movies, and there are few references to Tarantino’s old movies. If you haven’t watched it yet, I recommend it to you! (I love cinema!!)







The day after, we had lunch with sweety Dinah, then we went shopping (and among other things I like futility and I assume ^^).
We also went to the Baby The Star Shine Bright store, the first store for gothic Lolita in Paris. They sell amazing outfits, but unfortunately we couldn’t buy anything, 200€ for a skirt, no thanks lol
